The wind has taste of grass and pine
Across my head, and soon I race
Towards the heather in a burst
My life a blurry, frantic pace.
And so I fly towards the clouds
A soaring eagle spreading clear
The way a natural thing so clean
Above the mountain peaks so sheer.
I flutter as a flake of snow
Sharp of line and sparkling white
And hover over roof and grow
Into a blizzard in the night.
What power I have to be and see
Whatever I choose while I still can
My veggie state will never change
Though something sparks my mind to plan.
With rocket boost I orbit stars
And float on sunbeams just for fun
My body swept by solar winds
And warmed by golden suns.
Now deep in ocean blue and cold
My fearful beauty feels so strong
I am the shark who knows no fear
If only life forced me along.
I sense my family standing close
The doctor speaks with saddened shrug
My mother’s kiss so warm and light
They’re here to pull my plug.
In sleep I am a superman
Now strength I need to glean
I shed a tear and try to speak
And hear my sister scream.
